Sex issue Through a Bangladeshi Eye

Sex is an issue to keep secret in Bangladesh. Most of the people are not interested to talk about it. Our social cultural structure doesn’t allow this issue to discourse. Because, Bangladesh is a country of high religious value both in Muslims and Hindus and people are expected to obey the social norms and values. It’s true that it is not a matter of any vulgarism, a matter of education or learning. We all know that now-a-days AIDS becomes a big issue to concern. One of the main causes of AIDS is related with sex. I can remember that when I was in school, in that time there was song about AIDS in our media. But they didn’t clearly show how AIDS causes and what the precautions are that people have to take. To raise awareness toward AIDS media used to show a man is in a wheel chair, covered with a white cloth and a black cat is near to him and no one is there. I used to think black cat causes AIDS. The beacon of hope, this situation is changing now in media. Now media are playing a very big role to make protest about this. They have started campaign- If you want to live, you have to know. But unfortunately, this is happening only in media, not in our home. Through it is a big issue; our families are not worried about it. There are a number of families whose are switching off or changing the channel when AIDS or sex related ads come on screen. Parents think that it is harmful for teenagers. But this age is a very crucial time for every human. Teenage is time of physical and mental change and they have to have a clear concept about the relation between a boy and a girl. Unfortunately it is true that many children and teenagers are the victim of sexual harassment. They couldn't share their problem with their parents because parents think it is a secrete issue. However, this is a very unfortunate reality is constructed by our society, in foreign countries they have a particular subject about sex, even in India they have consulted about sensitive issue in their school. But in our country schools always avoid this issue. For this circumstance, young generations don't have any idea what is good or bad and they are being used by many dishonest people. Like video game shops are a big source of exposing sexual video toward the young people. Our society constructs that girls and boys are two different things and from the childhood they perceive them as opposite sex. Many teenagers ruin their life being affected with porn films and sites and I specially think addiction in 'Yaba" 'drug' also caused by this. Even in our university everyday a number of boys visit the porn sites in Internet, they take it as their entertainment. Here family background plays a great role. But this situation has to be changed. We need a change in our society and the family system. Media can play a very big role in this issue. They can disseminate news, programs, dramas etc for teenagers. Schools may keep consultant to talk with students. Nevertheless I am not losing hope and I do believe this situation will change but it will take times.

A very sensitive and reasoned piece of work. You are clearly concerned by this issues and are seeking some answers. It's not easy but keep trying.

Use the spell check when you complete a piece of work please.
